Central Coast Forum Convenes Ocean Experts to Discuss Local Marine Protected Areas

On October 27th from 9:30 a.m to 5:00 p.m., the Marine Protected Area Collaborative Network will convene over 80 ocean experts from across California’s Central Coast in the Asilomar Conference Center Seaside Room to plan for community-based stewardship of the statewide MPA Network with a focus on the 28 MPAs in the Central Coast.

John Laird, California Secretary for Natural Resources, will deliver remarks to delegates at approximately 12:50 p.m. focusing on the continued partnership between the state and the Collaborative Network in successfully supporting the MPA Network.

Throughout the day, scientists, agency staff and local experts will present on and discuss topics ranging from outreach projects to community based studies of protected areas.
