Event Details

Join a diverse group of marine protected area (MPA) stakeholders, community members, and ocean stewards in the local area for a meeting consisting of local and statewide MPA updates, networking, discussions, engagement opportunities, and more. The Santa Cruz MPA Collaborative is one of 14 Collaboratives in the MPA Collaborative Network, a statewide “network of networks” working together to steward California’s 124+ MPAs. Collaborative meetings are for anyone who is interested in getting involved at the local level, please help spread the word and encourage involvement among your colleagues and community members!

The meeting will be hybrid happening on Zoom and at the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Exploration Center. If you are able, we encourage in-person attendance to allow for robust discussion and connecting with community partners.

At this meeting, we’ll be working together to suggest and review possible small-scale (minor) changes to Santa Cruz County MPA regulations which will be presented to CDFW as recommendations for adaptive management as part of the Decadal Management Review process, with the goal of the increasing MPA effectiveness and assisting local managers in MPA stewardship.
