Learn the in’s and out’s of native plant landscaping while helping the Reserve maintain our new native gardens! Each third Saturday we spend time exploring a new topic in native plant gardening, and then spend time working in the gardens. Work changes with the season and may involve weeding, planting, or collecting native seeds. All ages and abilities are welcome, but everyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
This month, we dive into native seed harvesting and will spend time collecting seed for future restoration projects
Registration: RSVP is required to keep our group sizes limited! If you’re planning to join us, please send an email to Ariel Hunter, Community Outreach Coordinator: ariel.hunter@wildlife.ca.gov
What to Bring: If you have them, bring along your gardening gloves and your preferred weed whacking tools. We have our own to loan out for those who don’t have their own. Wear long pants and layers, and don’t forget a water bottle!
Where to Meet: The Elkhorn Slough Reserve Visitor Center entrance, 1700 Elkhorn Road, Watsonville, CA 95076
