MPA Collaborative Network is hosting the next statewide Tidepool Working Group Meeting on August 8, 2026 at 9 AM, virtually on Zoom. This meeting is to reconnect with partners across the state and share current projects and potential collaborations. This meeting will also have a presentation from the Crystal Cove Conservancy summer interns and their tidepool bingo and if it was used to improve tidepool interactions, particularly within the MPA.
Refresher on the TWG
In 2019 and 2020 the MPA Collaborative Network (MPACN) held 15 MPA Community Compliance Forums for each coastal county and “harmful tidepooling” was one of the top compliance concerns mentioned statewide. To support efforts of collaboratives, members, and partners to reduce harmful tidepooling, the MPACN formed a statewide Tidepool Working Group in the summer of 2022 for anyone interested in connecting across county lines and sectors on tidepool topics. The MPACN acts as the coordinating and facilitating body, but the direction and focus of the TWG is up to its members. If you have questions, ideas, concerns, presentations, or projects you’d like to bring to the group, please let us know.
