Join a diverse group of marine protected area (MPA) stakeholders, community members, and ocean stewards in the local area for a meeting consisting of local and statewide MPA updates, networking, discussions, engagement opportunities, and more. The Monterey MPA Collaborative is one of 14 Collaboratives in the MPA Collaborative Network, a statewide “network of networks” working together to steward California’s 124+ MPAs. Collaborative meetings are for anyone who is interested in getting involved at the local level, please help spread the word and encourage involvement among your colleagues and community members!
Hybrid meeting on August 16 from 2-4 pm at the Mott Training Center at the Asilomar Conference Grounds and on Zoom. In-person attendance is strongly encouraged to facilitate transparent and collaborative discussion.
At this special meeting, we’ll be working together to suggest and review possible small-scale (minor) changes to Monterey County MPA regulations which will be presented to CDFW as recommendations for adaptive management as part of the Decadal Management Review process, with the goal of the increasing MPA effectiveness and assisting local managers in MPA stewardship. This is a locally-focused opportunity to share your thoughts on improving MPA management. These discussions are taking place in each of the 14 collaboratives, so please join and encourage your fellow colleagues and community members to participate in this effort to represent local perspectives and priorities.
