Event Details

Join a diverse group of marine protected area (MPA) stakeholders and ocean stewards in the Mendocino area for a meeting consisting of local and statewide MPA updates, networking, and more. Everyone is welcome to join their local MPA Collaborative and attend the meetings. The meeting will take place at the State Parks Interpretation office, located south of town at Cabrillo Light House in the Kearn house. Discussion of proposal ideas for the Ocean Protection Council Small Grant Program will also take place. A call-in option is available, see below.

Following the meeting, join the Collaborative at Glass Beach for a mini-ROV (remotely operated vehicle) training. The Mendocino Collaborative now has two Trident underwater drones for use by Collaborative members. Expect to learn about the MPA Collaborative Network’s ROV Program in partnership with SoFar Ocean and the S.E.E. Initiative, procedures for using the shared Collaborative ROVs, where to access resources, and how to pilot with some tips and tricks to avoid sticky situations. Then, dive right in with some hands-on piloting practice.

2:30 pm – 4:00 (ish) pm – Trident Mini-ROV Training at Glass Beach tidepool
