MPA Community Compliance Forum

The MPA Collaborative Network held Community Compliance Forums for each coastal county as part of a multi-year Compliance Initiative funded by the Ocean Protection Council. The Forums provided space for local stakeholders to voice their MPA, ocean, and coastal compliance concerns and brainstorm ideas to address those concerns.

MPA Ambassador Program:

Collaborative members are engaging boat captains and docents in an ambassador program targeting visitors to Point Reyes and the Farallon Islands. Working with these ambassadors, the collaborative has developed a map-based brochure that will be used as an outreach tool, with the goal of increasing awareness and compliance of local marine protected areas.

Golden Gate MPAs Brochure

With input from the fishing and boating community, the Collaborative developed a waterproof brochure for San Francisco and Bay Area residents to learn more about the MPAs in their area.

Online MPA Ambassador Training

The Golden Gate Collaborative created an online training course for interested users to become MPA Ambassadors. The course includes information on why MPAs are important, how they work and where they are located.  The training is applicable statewide and can be offered to docents, interpreters, ocean business employees, students, and the general public. Those that complete the training will receive a certificate of completion and be recognized as Certified MPA Ambassadors.
