Teacher training opportunity! The Elkhorn Slough Reserve announces its GLOBE Training – March 28-29, 2020. An environmental science workshop for Middle and High School Teachers (grades 6-12).

The GLOBE Program is an international science program that engages students in the scientific process. Students learn through inquiry-based activities and investigations and enter their data into a database scientists and students use worldwide. As citizen scientists, they contribute to our understanding of the Earth System.

GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment): A 2-day field and classroom workshop held at Elkhorn Slough Reserve that focuses on developing lessons and investigations in hydrology, meteorology, land cover and soils. Teachers will leave with:

· Lesson plan ideas and materials

· Data collection protocols

· GLOBE Teacher certification and personalized website for students to upload data as citizen scientists

· DIY Instruments to start your investigations

· Opportunities to partner with scientists and teachers around the world!

Registration is now open, seating is limited! For more information visit: https://www.elkhornslough.org/education-program/teacher-development/
